I would never want to have to choose between all of the different models of the iron entry doors and iron gates in the showroom that I just walked into with my friend. I even told her not to ask my opinion when she goes to make her final purchases. I told her if I did not like it, I would let her know but that was it.

Since her husband could not get the time off from work to come with her, she had called me to see if I would accompany her. I had no problem going shopping but did not want to be responsible for making the final decision on her iron entry doors and iron gates that would be installed at her house for a long time.

I had noticed many models that I thought were very pretty but then I got to looking at the prices and walked away. She had not given me a price that she was willing to pay, but I figured that she was not too worried about it. She usually gets what she wants and money is no problem. I am sure that with something so important as iron entry doors and gates, the same would apply.

There was a newspaper article about an interior painting company that offers half price discounts to people who are handicapped and for senior citizens. I think that this is a great idea, since most of these people are on fixed incomes and have a hard time just paying for the things that they need like heat, food and prescriptions.

I let my pastor know about this interior painting company because I thought that he may want to share this information to our group of seniors who meet every Wednesday morning in the church basement for social hour. He was happy to pass the information along to them.

After the pastor passed along the information on the painting company, I found out that four different senior couples from my church had the entire inside of their homes completely repainted. They had always thought that they could not afford it and with the half price discount, they were able to have it done.

I was happy to have helped them get the kind of things they wanted, too many times people have to choose between the things they want and the things they need and I am glad that these four couples can have both.

When we went to the local home show this year that is held at a local armory building, I learned a lot about windows. Everything I had thought I known before had just been totally changed. I always thought that if you want new windows, your only choices were vinyl or vinyl.

I guess that you can choose to go with wood windows now that are energy efficient. They even had wood windows that look like vinyl windows. Why you would want your wood windows to look like vinyl windows is a mystery to me, but you can.

Since I am interested in having some kitchen garden windows installed in the kitchen, I have to decide if I want them to be made of and how much I am willing to spend since I also learned that not all windows are not as energy efficient as you may think. I learned how to figure out how energy efficient a window is, by reading the labels on them. I would need to make sure the kitchen garden windows I have put in, are very efficient because I do not want to have to pay more for my heating costs because of getting new windows.

I found three different styles of wood windows that are also garden windows that I really like and have been comparing their cost and efficiency to determine which one I will buy.

The water damage repair company came out to figure out just how much it was going to cost to fix everything in the basement. I knew that they would probably have to remove most of the drywall and all of the carpet in addition to the furnace. The furnace seemed to be under about three feet of water, so I am not sure how it will be affected.

The day that I called the water damage repair company, they told me that since the flood had hit so many homes, there was a long list of people ahead of me that needed to be assessed also. I figured that it might take weeks for them to come out, but they ended up getting to my house about three days later. They had hired extra crews to help with the overload of people who needed help.

The other thing that needed to be taken care of from the flood was the fact that the CO deck construction company that had been installing my new deck before everything flooded had left everything laid on the ground and it had almost all floated away. I was not sure if my insurance company had to cover that or if the CO deck construction company’s insurance covered it. That will be my next call to make today.

When I hired the cheapest roofing company that gave me an estimate, I should have known that you get what you pay for. All that I was thinking at the time was that I needed it done now, and I could not wait but I did not have much money. I would have had to borrow from my 401K to have hired anyone that cost more than the roofing company I did.

When I told my dad what I had done, he told me that if I would have just called him, he would have put me in touch with a Minnesota remodeling company that would have matched any other estimates and they guarantee their work also.

I now will have to pay almost double the amount to have the Minnesota remodeling company that my dad recommended come out and fix the very poor job that the first roofing company did. I hope that they can do it quickly because there is snow in the forecast for the end of the week and I do not want to find out what will happen if it snows and then melts quickly. I may have to hire a company to clean up some wet drywall then too.

When the bathroom cabinet designers came out to measure our bathroom, they were very informative with how the whole process of removing the old cabinet and installing the new ones would work. I felt like they really cared about their customers. I have heard horror stories before from people who have had contractors in their house that have made messes and then did not finish the job on time.

I found these bathroom cabinet designers on the internet by typing bathroom cabinets St. Petersburg into the search engine. There were two different companies that looked like they would do a good job but I chose the one that had the great before and after pictures on their site. If they could make some of those bathrooms look like that, then they would do a great job on mine.

The St. Petersburg company that I chose, also did some work for my neighbors parents and they recommended them too. I am looking to do some white bathroom cabinets in my master bathroom and possibly some kind of oak cabinet in the guest bathroom.

I am looking forward to having two new completely different looking bathrooms. If I read the company’s website correctly, then they also do kitchen cabinets too. I think that maybe next year, and after seeing how they do on my bathroom, I can have them replace my kitchen cabinets.

I really needed to find someone to do some deck restoration for me before my big end of the summer party. I had the deck put on about five years ago, and have noticed some fading going on with the sealer and a few boards look like they are warping, which is probably from our really hot summers, and really cold winters. I really do not want all of my friends and family thinking that I am letting my house go by making the proper repairs to it.

I saw a commercial for a company last week that also does house washing, and think that maybe if I hire them to do the deck restoration and the house washing that they may give me a discount. If they do not offer a discount for having multiple services done then I will have to see if I can afford to pay for both of them now, or wait and have the house washed next spring.

I can always ask my neighbor to come over and do the house washing for me since he does his every spring and fall. I am sure that he will do a good job but it would be so much better if I could hire someone who is a professional to do it.

I was so excited to drive through my old neighborhood and show my children the house I grew up in. The houses looked so different. I stopped in front of the home that I had lived in when I was a child. I noticed that it had new replacement windows and someone had painted it white. When I lived there, it was brown. I noticed someone in the garage and went to ask them if I could give my kids a tour of the house. The gentleman that lived there said that he would not mind, so we went in.

I could tell that he wanted to be our tour guide and so I started asking him some questions like when they had put in the replacement windows. He told me that his brother had told him about an energy tax credit you could earn by putting in replacement windows so he decided to do it about eight months ago. He said the energy tax credit was a great reason to improve the house.

He gave us a twenty minute tour and answered all of the questions that the kids had. It was great to be in my old room but it had been turned in to a home office and looked completely different. I drove away thinking how nice the replacement windows looked on my old house.
