Squash as an indoor game is no doubt the most strenuous on the human body as it entails a lot of swift and fast movement. It is also considered to be one of the fastest games in the world, which is decided by the amount of reaction time that a player is given before he or she has to execute their shot. It may come as a surprise to many that the fastest game in the world is an indoor game and widely popular in US called Ice Hockey.

Squash is played in an indoor court of fixed dimensions, there are fixed walls of concrete or synthetic fiber glass which is a technology which was introduced to the game only in late eighties with the prime advantage of improving the view for the spectators as the back wall in the fiber glass courts is transparent. The front wall has three lines on it,

the server has to hit his serve in a way that the ball hits the front wall between the middle and the top line. Rest of the three walls only have one line on them and they indicate the playing portion of the wall. The floor is marked with two service boxes on either side of the court along the side wall, these are roughly midway from the front and rear wall,

which is marked with a line joining the side walls. This line joining the side walls is also connected to the rear wall splitting the rear court in two equal halves. The sever has to have one foot in the service box and the service after hitting the front wall has to land in the opposite halve of the rear court or else it is a fault.

The players can hit the ball on any of the walls so long as it touches the front wall between the bottom and the top line without touching the floor or any other wall outside the area marked.

The game is played up to 15 points with the player winning each point adding one to his score and even change of serve is given as a point to the other player.
