* A bodhran has a wooden body with one end covered and another end opened. This makes it get a different look. The main identifying feature is the stick that comes along with them and which is used for beating on it to get the sound. The stick generally has two ends.
* If you plan to buy oud, understand that it is not having a fretted neck as other stringed instruments. The back is not flat like guitar rather it is bowl-like. The oval or circular sound holes generally come around three in number.
